The short version
- Earlybird is free. Submit ideas in your own words.
- Ideas you submit are not confidential. Don't submit anything secret.
- We can publish your idea (without your name) and share it with people who build things.
- Anyone, including us, may build something like your idea, and you won't be owed anything for it.
- We don't promise to build anything.
About these terms
These terms apply when you use earlybird.day or submit an idea. Earlybird is an experiment run by SWM (weswm.co); "we" and "us" means Earlybird and SWM. By submitting an idea, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't submit.
Who can use Earlybird
You must be at least 16 years old to submit an idea.
Your ideas
Ideas are not confidential. Earlybird exists to put ideas in front of people who can build them. Please don't submit anything you want to keep secret, anything you plan to patent, or anything belonging to someone else.
Permission you give us. When you submit an idea, you give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive, permanent licence to use, copy, edit, combine with similar ideas, publish and share it, including in our monthly top 10, in other Earlybird content, and with people who build things. We will not publish your name or email alongside it.
No payment or credit. Many people submit similar ideas, and people build things independently all the time. Anyone, including us and the builders we share ideas with, may build something similar to your idea. You won't be entitled to payment, royalties, credit or ownership as a result.
You keep your own rights. The licence is non-exclusive, so you are free to pursue your own idea however you like.
Builders
If you tick "Let people building this contact me", we may pass your first name and email to someone building something like your idea. Any conversation or arrangement after that is between you and them. We are not responsible for what they build, say or offer.
What you agree not to do
- Submit spam, or use bots or scripts to submit ideas.
- Submit anything illegal, hateful, harassing, sexual, or that encourages harm.
- Include other people's personal information in an idea.
- Submit content that infringes someone else's rights.
- Interfere with or try to break the site.
We may remove any submission, and stop anyone using Earlybird, at our discretion.
No promises
We don't promise to build any idea, include any idea in the top 10, or keep running Earlybird. The site is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from your use of Earlybird, from ideas being built by others, or from contact with builders. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.
Changes
We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and continuing to use Earlybird after a change means you accept the new terms.
