The short version
- We collect your idea, first name and email when you submit.
- We use them to send you the monthly top 10 and news about your idea.
- Your idea may appear in the top 10, but never with your name.
- We only share your name and email with a builder if you tick the box to allow it.
- We never sell your personal information.
- You can unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data at any time.
Who we are
Earlybird (earlybird.day) is an experiment run by SWM (weswm.co). In this policy, "we" and "us" means Earlybird and SWM. You can reach us at [contact email].
What we collect
When you submit an idea, we collect:
- Your idea: the text you type, up to 200 characters.
- Your first name and email address.
- Your builder preference: whether you ticked "Let people building this contact me".
- How you found us: whether you arrived from a friend's shared link, and which ad or source sent you, if the link you followed included that information.
When you visit the site, our service providers may also process basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view. This happens when the page loads from our host (Cloudflare), loads fonts (Google Fonts), and counts form views for our email provider (MailerLite). If we run ads, we may also use the Meta Pixel to measure how many people who saw an ad went on to submit an idea.
How we use it
- To send you the monthly top 10 ideas and news if someone builds something like yours.
- To group similar ideas together and rank them by how many people ask and how original they are. We may use AI tools to help with this.
- To publish ideas in the monthly top 10 and share them with people who build things. Ideas are always shown without your name or email.
- To understand which ads and links bring people to the site.
- To prevent spam and abuse.
When we share your name and email
Only if you tick "Let people building this contact me". If you do, we may share your first name and email with someone building something like your idea, so they can contact you about it. Once shared, how that person handles your information is up to them and their own privacy practices. If you don't tick the box, we don't share your name or email with builders.
We never sell your personal information or share it for other companies' advertising.
Service providers
We use a small number of companies to run Earlybird. They process information on our behalf:
- MailerLite: stores submissions and sends our emails.
- Cloudflare: hosts the website.
- Google Fonts: serves the typefaces the site uses.
- Meta: the Meta Pixel, if we run ads, to measure ad performance.
Some of these providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States.
How long we keep it
We keep your information until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. If you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you. If you ask us to delete your data, we will remove your name, email and idea from our records, although an idea already published anonymously in a past top 10 may remain in that email.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
- Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing [contact email].
- Change your mind about builders: email us to withdraw permission to share your details with builders. This won't affect details already shared.
Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have additional rights under local law. We will respond to requests within the time those laws require.
Children
Earlybird is not intended for anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Earlybird changes. We'll update the date at the top, and if a change is significant we'll let subscribers know by email.
